Description Yes. This is one of the problems about being an indie and someone open about their art. I did start in the nude and fetish art communities. I get the feeling the entire tide of social media is turning against people who support free speech and artistic freedom. If the big-companies and their fans wanted to, they could pour through my work and nail me to a cross with it. I support anyone who gets targeted by intolerance and love our free-thinking communities here.

He is saying the mainstream is a nasty, vindictive, hate-for-clicks and cash filled place of fan wars. And James is right.

And I don't care. Because I can't.

There is too much good in our communities to let hate and nastiness win.

I still recall conversations I've had in this matter. Some artists were hopeful that they could be the breakthrough at some publisher in the US. I always felt my work would be more in the Playboy and Heavy Metal audiences. Given how the best of the worst treats their guest artists, I gave up on that target over a decade ago. I'm still shopping European publishers and hope that the same spirit of acceptance that launched Metal Hurlant and the adult graphic novel markets in the various European nations still exists and my artist and I will crack it open. But I remain realistic.

I write first for myself. If I'm not engaged, I know others won't be either. I'll keep writing no matter what.

Good luck!

Thank you, and yes very true. This panel has opened up some really cool discussion about publishers and perceptions, wow.

I do not want to walk away from who I am, but I want to focus and perhaps brand myself better. I see myself in the same sort of Heavy Metal R-rated type market, but also want to do a serious PG-style strip or two in 3d to tell stories and give others inspiration. 3d is for everyone and every story is my feeling.

I get this feeling the audience for comics has split, with a more free expression audience forming online, and the PC types taking over print and big studios. Perhaps we are in the middle of a market realignment. I hope so! I would love to see a more open and diverse market and marketplace for comics.

I will also keep writing no matter what. Our stories are who we are.

Niche art works just fine! Or better, excel in your niche art ;)
