Description I am just horrified. Horrified.

Also, natural media painting of beard stubble and brows. When the times get tough or the models too simple, I break out my paint tools and kick ass.

What?

The beard really looks great. The distracted expression is funny too.

Thanks, I left some earlier shots as-is to compare. This lets me use models of any generation in my work (even some as old as Poser 4) because I am skilled enough to just paint over the shape and get the look I want. I started in traditional art so I know my way around a brush (oil or watercolor), pencil, India ink, or pastel crayon IRL.

Restart is a tour-de-force of painting. All the rust on the car, the bullet impacts, smoke effects, windshield grime, most background details, explosions, ripples, and tires kicking up dirt are painted on. Vex's work with the Stranded cast (over on Slushe) also has a lot of digital painting on the hair and water.

I useΒ Corel Painter 2020 to do all this work, and the program is wonderful to work in. It has a mix of simulated natural media and digital painting effects I go wild with on layers. I can take a flat water plane stuck on a model and paint on ripples and disturbances that play with the light.

Whenever I see something 'not working' this gives me an option other than 're-render' or 'cover it up.' It saves me both time and money, and triples my content pool for scenes. I can also take Gen 4 models and make them look for the most part like Gen 8, which is an amazing feat.
