Stranded Updates 0043 — Description
My mom used to call them funny books too. I still have my brother's collection. She bought them for us because they were reading, and reading was good for us. And she was right.

I remember a time when the price hikes started going past 1.99 and 2.99 and even the newstand owners were shocked. Six dollars for a funny book? I remember the days you could walk in with 5 bucks and come out with a stack that would last you days.

Today it is even more. I could buy a full-length book, that lasts me days, for the price of one issue. Big business, and what is good for business, you know? Just not for us people, not anymore. There are times I see the word "comics" in my name and I feel the word has taken on the same predatory stigma as "AAA game" these days.

I miss the old funny books.
