What Phoenix did to Laura was evil.What he is doing to Hunter is a Paradox-level mind "F" wreck her emotions. Like what happened to Candy. And I have a horrible feeling here. Hunter is close enough in SoCal to the new Paradox burrow in Ridgecrest that Paradox could be influencing this event and taking away control from Phoenix.
There were only a few people Candy came into contract with on the Island when she was marked by Paradox. Me, Vex, Hunter, Taylor, and the Ghost Hunters. Hunter may be its next target, and this may be it.

Yeah, I never told you about Paradox in California. New huge nest of tentacles there in the desert. Still very active. There is another eruption over near Unit 1721's old base in Nevada where a lot of heroes were interned. They are probably not there now, but that underground base is huge, miles and miles of DUMB tunnels Paradox is probably crawling through and setting off seismographs.
In fact, SoCal is where I am heading in my RV. Hunter is who I was going to rescue.
