Once you have committed to a plan of attack in your head, Jess will know. You will be like I am going to A, B, C, and D...and Jess will stop you after A and have you on the ground when you mind is still acting on B and you can't get out of that mode of thinking until D is done.

Night Girl was setup and Jess was waiting for her to commit to an attack sequence, hence Jess feigned weakness at the start. This is really classic Art of War stuff, and it shows you how powerful Jess is - not because she is physically invincible and strong, but she uses her mind and is an incredibly quick thinker. She can also get away with a reduced power source and wear clothes all day because she doesn't need full power to be extremely dangerous.
