Description
This is a really fun tutorial. Glad I am doing it. And this opens a lot of doors. I will be able to build things that will really be cool and add to the stories.Doing it out in public like this in a strip reinforces the learning for me. Somehow, if I try to write it down and teach others, I never forget something.

EDIT: The book's "tab twice instructions" corrected. Thanks!

She wasn't in there originally, but the pool felt empty, and I was like, "You know what...?"
Yeah, more distractions is what this series needs. :P

Does it really say tab twice?
Tab is a shortcut for switching between the most frequently-used modes, usually between Object and Edit modes. You only need to press it once each time.
Anyway, all the available modes are in the menu at the leftmost end of the menu bar in the 3D viewport, so you can select the one you want.

Yeah it does, "Tab->2" is the way they put it (p283) - I noticed it was already on Edit mode, tabbed once, Object Mode, then again, back to Edit mode. Either this was written for another version or things have changed. Maybe I will change this to avoid confusion.

That tabbing between object and edit modes has been in Blender since way, way back. I think since the beginning.

Strange, must be a typo in the book, I tried Tab then "2 key" and LOL. The things us beginners have to deal with. Next thing someone will recommend is put that book away and watch this video to straighten you out LOL
I fixed the text and made a note. Thanks LOL

It might be the pie menu option introduced in 2.8. You use CTRL-TAB to bring that up. But then, Edit mode is 6, not 2.

"Tab" for edit mode then "2" for edge select, finally figured it out. The book had no section on "this is how we say keystrokes."

Ah, makes sense. In Edit mode, it's "1" for vertex-select mode, "2" for edge-select, "3" for face-select.
If it were me, I would have introduced the buttons for doing these first, then mention the keystroke shortcuts afterwards.
