Blender will run just about on anything and any OS. If your machine can run even lower-spec 3d games it generally works well. And it's free. System requirements are here:

What kind do you have? Even something a few years old can still do some reasonable 3D rendering.

It's an HP all in one I got a few months ago. I'll download Blender and see what happens.
