Mastermind 0002 — Description
Duchess is a goddess of the ancient world reincarnated. Somehow, there has been an awakening and 'the powers of the gods' are ending up in normal people's hands. It is possible Overlord was responsible for digitally printing her physical form in The Shadow Queen, and it may be Duchess' coming was the event that heralded this new age.

She is weak, she doesn't have omniscient powers, and she isn't really your "god out of the D&D Monster Manual" sort of god. The sun being the "all father" to this pantheon also makes sense, since the sun god's lovers "the females" have to curry favor to him by letting the sun "see" and "shine upon" them in order to charge up power, and that also works from a "naked fantasy" or ancient world Conan style of fantasy story as well.

There is an "ancient worlds" backstory running through this superhero lore, and Duchess here is one of the key players. I have always seen her as one of the sources, if not the driving source, of the powers for the female side of this story, and she needs to ruffle a few feathers to get her fellow female "followers" in line in a god vs. god style of dust up. She needs to prove her superiority.

Her powers, however, are pure darkness. She has a connection to the underworld and "the male side" that is clear and present.

And as of yet, unexplained.
