Manhattan In Summary — Description
As one of the first steps toward the refinement of my personal style of photo illustration, I incorporated seven photographs of Manhattan Island taken during my vacation in New York City the week of Spring Break in the Year of Our Lord 2,007. The result was one of the only two compositions I turned in for the second project in my Design class.

From the project summary:
"Project 2.2 Found Shape
"This project is to allow a student to explore and discover shapes that exist in the real world. Additionally, this project asks the student to form relationshiops between different shapes, allowing them to interact together."

Photographs incorporated are:
-Two buildings viewed from ground level.
-Two detailed segments of armor worn by a warhorse in the late Middle Ages on display in a natural history museum.
-An iron, abstract sculpture displayed in the Museum of Modern Art.
-The condensation on the passenger window of a taxi cab from within.
-The P from a parking meter.

While long familiar with the techniques of isolating shapes on layers and using blending styles in Photoshop to create ways in which they can flow together, this was the first time I did it on such a large scale and had results to show for it. While, on an ideological level, it doesn't please me to create works that are abstract, I'm rather satisfied with the way this turned out. If your appreciation of the work depends on having some sort of great meaning direct from my soul to your mind, all I can offer you is that this is Manhattan in final summary. I judged it to be a diverse, beautiful, busy place with a few lingering elements of confusion here and there.
