However, his old friend and now sworn enemy Oroku Saki attacked him in his own house and killed his wife Tang Shen, for which Yoshi killed him, but also died in battle.
Soon, Master Oda gave Splinter to a little girl, April O'Neil, who gave the rodent his name. But everything changed on the fateful night when Dr. O'Neil set fire to his laboratory, and April hurriedly dropped the cage with the experimental turtles and Splinter himself into the sewer.
