Mr. Freeze Freeze-Ray Weapon - Multi-View — Description

I was interested in the idea of building a Mr. Freeze Ray-gun in CAD, but as I began my research on the subject, I quickly discovered that nearly every depiction of Mr. Freeze (in the comics, TV, movies, toys, sculpts, and video game appearances) shows his Freeze Ray Device as a completely different design. There is virtually no consistency at all between the various designs as they appear in different stories and media.
So, I was left asking myself, “Which version do I depict?” After some consideration, I decided to base my design on the version that appears in Batman the Animated Series. This is a fan-favorite version of the Batman tales, and the one in which the “modern version” of Mr. Freeze’s poignant origin story first took shape.
However, even here, I faced several challenges. In the animated series, the Freeze Ray weapon is depicted somewhat inconsistently from scene to scene, due to the fact that it is hand drawn. Additionally, due to the inherent limitations of hand-drawn animation, and the fact that this weapon had to be drawn by hand over and over again, the actual design is (understandably) a somewhat “simplified” design. This is not a criticism, by the way. If anything, it is a miracle that the animators included as much complexity as they did.
In any event, I decided to “base” my project on this design from the Animated Series, but I would grant myself some “creative liberties” adding details, materials, and textures, etc. to make a more exciting, elaborate "cinematic" design, with the idea being that my renderings would (at least conceptually) reflect the “actual” weapon that Mr. Freeze carries, and that this design would, necessarily, be “greatly simplified” when seen in hand-drawn animation.
