More chess-related art.
I always thought the King was the most tragic chess piece.
The King is technically the only piece that needs to be captured to complete a game of chess. So in that sense, the King is the only piece destined to die. Movement-wise, the King is also just a souped-up Pawn that's been designated as "important", so I always imagined the King as someone very small, very fragile whose been suddenly thrust upon a pedestal, and terrified of his title.
