Overwatch+Propaganda — Description

Two weeks would pass by since soldiers of the Socialist Republic of Idmania crossed the frontier borders of the Empire of Kelinia when the first stages of liberating the province would occur. Although the Prime Minister would publically broadcast about potential actions the SRI would face, there was no word of the exact operations taking place towards liberation put on air. Under the direct command of the CNO of the Imperial Navy, elements of the 1st Tactical Regiment would slip into occupied territory to provide information of enemy positions and potential areas for landing zones for Seebataillon units. Fireteams would rarely engage unless directed by orders from the CNO. In the moment they would, it was for isolated enemy units or strategic targets that would hinder enemy response once the liberation began. Another task given to some of the fireteams within the regiment would be to rendevous with the small pockets of resistance formed by the remaining police force and regular military who were not captured during the occupation.
When the landings occured by both sea and air, the 1st Tactical Regiment would SEU assist assault platoons with the destruction of the remaining anti-air units after a barrage from supporting naval units. The area surrounding An Ramarra would be back under Imperial Control, but the city center still held a fierce resistance and would stubbornly hold on even with the following weeks passing by. Before the Summer Monsoons came, a few fireteams of the 1st Tactical Regiment would begin a fierce assault of the provincial compound the remaining enemy forces in An Ramarra were holding out. Within a few hours they finally surrendered. Yet it was a pyrrhic victory for the regiment, which took a forty percent casualty rate, cutting their operational strength in half and causing them to be pulled out of the liberation effort entirely.
Though their effort was for a short duration, the 1st Tactical Regiment provided much needed intel of enemy strength and key locations for supporting units. Along with the harassment of SRI supply convoys and communications lines by militia trained by members of the regiment. Many of the operators of the unit would continue their duties elsewhere within the Empire. With some reports of sniper teams bearing the unit patch of the regiment being present during the riots within the recently liberated areas the Imperial military was pushing back into. Though the Imperial goverment would deny such claims, the clandestine nature of their operations would contradict any cover up.
"We come back to liberate their asses and this is what they give us," The operator sighed as he leaned against the billboard, "I lost a friend here."
"There's always going to be someone rooting for the enemy," Retorted the other man, squinting through a pair of binoculars, "It's the folks who got the special treatment when embracing the invaders with open arms setting fire to cars now."

"Collaborators," Groaned the sniper.
The pair continued their overwatch of the riots, as a propaganda advert overlooked them.
"Can't believe we've made so much progress in a few days," said the sniper as he lit a cigarette, "I just feel like they're willingly giving away territory now with the full force of the marines in the Seebataillon pushing against them."
"We did the same in the last border conflict with the damn Iddies," The spotter shot back with the same energy, "Most likely some commander got replaced and the replacement saw the writing on the wall. It always happens like that."
"How would you know something like that," Questioned the sniper, now looking at his companion.
"I was born here and saw it happen," The spotter coldly responded back as he continued the overwatch.
