How long must I hide
From what is really there
How long must she stay to protect that little girl
To make sure no harm comes her way
How much longer must they have to suffer because of me
I don't want that girl back
The girl I used to be
So I slip into the darkness's embrace
And go to sleep letting someone else take my place
And I let her fight the little girl's guardian
And at one point we won but then she came back at the little girls cry
I want her gone and far away
Never to hear that cry
But all the while people get hurt
But they don't understand what it feels like
Or even who i am
Or who this war has turned me into
Broken, and shattered but i still remain standing
The darkness that dwells within
Consumes me and stops the pain
I only wanted them to be safe but in the end I ended up hurting them more
So I lay back into the dark embrace
And rest my head and let the dark take once more
I know this will only hurt them more
But maybe just maybe one day i can wake up from this nightmare
And go to a better place where this war is over and I can live in peace
