Since my 'week' for this 52 weeks project has started on Fridays, the final week started on Christmas! And what better day to have a wonderful cooking project on! I even got a pretty kitchen to shoot in! I went home to the parents for the holidays, and while my mom tended to most of the cooking she set aside a fun and photogenic recipe for me, candied pecans! I know it looks like I'm cooking up a storm in the photo, but aside from a quick stir here and there all the pots on the stove besides the wok/skillet I was using were off limits to me My mom is a smart woman, she still doubts my cooking abilities! But I will say I have improved quite a lot this year, I can take on any recipe with a fair amount of confidence. As for real cooking, as in without a recipe, well I'm still pretty clueless there, but at least I can go to the grocery store and pick up a few things here and there and know with some certainty I can find a recipe that will work with all of them, or pick up one of those handy spice packets with the recipe card on the back! Speaking of spices, my mom got me a fabulous spice rack for Christmas!! I was so excited, I've been wanting to get one but figured I would just wait and put it on my wedding registry, and she surprised me with it! So now I have all these wonderful spices at my disposal, I think I may have to keep up with the cooking picture every week just so I can use some of them!
And the pecans turned out wonderfully, they were all sugary and cinnamon-y and yum! And locally grown too, my parents picked them from a friend's house and had them shelled a few days before I arrived
