Description

Morning breaks on a rusted gate
Dew on the grass, it’s getting late
Crows on the wire hum an old refrain
Boots in the mud, hands smell like rain

The road don’t hurry, it knows my name
It bends and breathes, but stays the same
Every fence post, every stone
Whispers, boy, you’re not alone

The wind tells stories I already knew
Of leaving town and coming back true

I walk into the backbone of the land
Where the hills stand tall like a steady hand
Roots in the soil, dust on my shoes
I find my strength in the quiet and the bruise
Yeah, the earth hums low, steady as bone
Pulling me deep—into the backbone

Sun goes down in a copper flame
Fields turn gold, then go to gray
Crickets tune up, night rolls in
Stars stitch light through the dark again

Old barns lean like they’re tired but proud
Holding time in the wood and the sound
Of a thousand days that came and went
With hope, with loss, with honest sweat

I breathe in deep, let the noise fall through
Out here, the truth don’t shout—it moves

I walk into the backbone of the land
Where the hills stand tall like a steady hand
Roots in the soil, dust on my shoes
I find my strength in the quiet and the bruise
Yeah, the earth hums low, steady as bone
Pulling me deep—into the backbone

If I break, let it be like a tree
Bent by the storm, still standing free
Let the river teach me how to go
Carving a path, but moving slow

I walk into the backbone of the land
Where the past and the present understand
I leave my weight where the long grass grows
Let the wide sky straighten my soul
Yeah, the earth hums low, steady as bone
Holding me fast—into the backbone

When the road ends and the lights are gone
I’ll still hear that low, old song
In every step, in every stone
I carry home the backbone

Recently, I've been biking around a lot, mostly through the foothills past my house. It helps calm me down whenever I'm stressed. I'm stressed and anxiety driven just about everyday, so I go bike everyday. One time, I rode all the way to Beaumont and back. It was about close to 35 miles roundtrip. The last few miles sucked because my battery died and was forced to pedal. Electric bikes weigh a ton so it was easier walking it up the steeper hills.

If I could, I would bike further up and into the mountains, like Big Bear or something. The scenery up there is so amazing. Big, tall trees with open skies and clean air. Smog rarely reaches up these spots, as it always hangs low in the valleys and city beds. Sometimes smoke from the fires can be really bad during the dry season. They're usually caused by low IQ idiots trying to start campfires, or even greater dumbasses throwing cigarettes onto dry grass.
