Description
Last April I got the idea to render yet another view of the Alien Inversion video
Mature Content
, this time with a camera pointed right at the main character Az's face and tied to the head as if by some sort of invisible selfie-stick. I particularly wanted to see this in a 3-D mode.
However, the prop hair just didn't hold up to the close-up treatment, so I decided to jump into the strand hair pool, at the deep end. I figured I'd knock out the hair part in a few days.
Slow-forward to this week (August, 2017) and I'm just about to let this thing go to the render farm, but with this hair, it's going to be expensive, so I need to run a few more tests.
The hair here looks kind of OK to me, but it doesn't last. The hair doesn't move very naturally (it's all the alien's fault, as will be noted later) but I have to end this - I've got other stuff to do.
After my short discussion about Ambient Occlusion with I decided to try to dip a toe in that ocean, though it appears that if I want to do AO in Poser, I need to use the SuperFly renderer, and I don't have that kind of time right now to convert all the lighting. But I can use Indirect Lighting, which would seem to be an attempt at the same effect. I started a test render of the above with IL on... looks like it's going to take all night. We'll just have to see.
