Wow. o_o
No punch line. Nor should there be. Just the collapse of the dam holding back all of Zia's guilt and trauma.

ah thanks for the clarification! Knowing my bad luck, even if it did happen in this world, i'd be one of the 80% not affected :c

She's right. She really did break reality all in some misadventure to gain some sort of self worth for herself. When Oppenheimer made an atomic bomb, he felt the weight of what his actions did. Zia though was like "Yeah, I gave you a horse for a lower half, but I need to get back at my family for making me seem insignificant". If you have fundamentally changed the very nature of reality and still think your accomplishments are nothing in the eyes of others... forget what others think. Because there's not much higher you can go in accomplishments. The bar's really heckin' high.

I mean — not exactly? It's more complicated than that.

Oh, okay, she did it for Star Trek. That makes a bit more sense. Also, it figures someone would mess up the math.

Jeez, this is rough to look at. Zia is going through so much. I hope Chloe can help her get out of the mess.

in my experience, I have learned when my brother is upset and going through stuff, I just be there for him not saying anything. Just knowing I am there helps.

Finally, she sheds her mask to reveal her true face, the depths of her despair and anxieties.
But I hope she realizes she isn't alone now. Chloe is with her. And while Chloe cannot carry her burden, she can help carry her friend.

Ok, gonna throw my two uneducated cents into the hat:
Zia gets no sympathy from me because her actions potentially endangered the world/possibly the universe. Zia brushed it off because her personal problems are more important to her and her colleague did not reassure.
Next we get Zia to describe how she sees Angel and her family. Write it down and get as much detail as possible.
Next, we keep Zia away from her family. She is in no kind of mental state to listen to anything they say. Further contact will only make things worse at this time.
Next, we bring the description to Angel. As a therapist she may have experience with similar situations with her patients or have insight as a psychiatrist. Keeping in mind that she should not be in direct contact with Zia for the time being.

That third to last panel really says it all.
...Cliffhanger... how in the world will Zia forgive herself? Stay tuned!

So her solution to showing her sister how she feels, was to bring over the worst of Angel's selves?
My joke from a page or two back was actually a better means to that end. Zia should have brought over the versions of herself that didn't have any talent or means to take care of themselves. Show Angel what it means to be a mere genius in a family of talented specialists. And then as Angel does her thing of empathizing and watching them recoil from her approach, walk up to her and say "what makes you think I was treated any differently?"

Thank you! I try hard to tell a good story, one that I hope is worth reading, and one that I hope people haven’t really seen before. Zia is a complex mess. She tries to play herself off as a goofball, but — the humor hides the pain, and there’s plenty of that, both societal wounds and self-inflicted.

You portray it well. I have been wondering when the pressure of "breaking the world" would come out. It has to bother her every time she looks a her friend and see she struggling with having a horse body. It has to eat at her knowing she may not be able to fix it. Everyone has a breaking point, even Zia. I actually hope that Angle's appears might help Zia in some way. she seems to care deeply about her little sister. Zia for some reason appear to not see the love, is incapable of seeing it, or refuses to see it. Anyway, you have my support.

I spend a lot of time carefully scripting each chapter. Revise, edit, expand, contract, revise, edit again. The pacing and the lines have to be *just* right. There’s a reason I spent months before this saying, “Still working on the script.” I’d like to think sometimes the result is pretty good, though.
This page started as six panels, and it eventually grew into nine to get the pacing right. Most of the lines didn’t change very much, but I slowed it all down so you could really feel it out with her. I absolutely adore writing monologues where a character starts talking about one thing and ends on something completely different, something that’s actually more important to them, and you can’t be sure when it really changed from the one subject to the other, and Zia’s monologue here really hits it well.

I know how Zia feels, all too well, I know how much it hurts, I absolutely understand where the frustration is coming from. I am a bit like that with my sister and the ONLY thing I end up doing is screwing up.

Zia shouldn't be so harsh on herself. Introspection is a rare skill for a mad scientist to have.
I know of many others who would have simply moved to a new reality and murdered that version of themselves to take their place. But she stock with it, and even try and fix it. And hey turning 1/3 of all humans into mythical creatures aren't that bad.
I remember one guy, from a dimensional plane who should not be mentioned, that lead a 4th dimensional being into his realm. That did not end well for anyone in that world.

Introspection is important. Also, introspection hurts: There's a reason Zia would rather be playing video games and reading trashy tabloids; you'd be avoiding reality too if you were in her scales.
Also, it's about 1/5. ~20%. But even 1% is really too much >_>

I don't know, if I were in her scales I would do all of the cool things that only nagas can do...
I can't really think of any. It is not like she can fly or turn invincible, she can't even turn people to stone, that would have been cool.
I remember one girl who was turned to stone, but still kept on moving. she was basically untouchable after that. She had a mean punch, but don't ask her about her weight.
Regardless most gets megalomaniacal, and makes some kind of grasp for world domination.
Anyway if I had to pick a fantasy creature to turn into, it would be elf. Still humanoid, but beautiful, thin and immortal

Time to discourage any sudden "must fix everything" impulses.

She's tried - via her actions. But that's likely only reinforced the perceptions on both sides. And we are seeing just half of the equation. The family likely has similar views wanting to accept her but thinking Zia needs their help.

Angel probably does really care about Zia but the rest of her family probably don't like her actions and it resulted in her believing Angel doesn't really care about her.

Likely just the opposite. Her whole family cares a great deal about their "problem child" and want to help her. But they don't realize that their efforts are being misinterpreted. In her field - Zia is a genius and if she let herself, a very successful scientist. But she thinks the family is trying to shoehorn her into their definition of success. In reality, they're trying to figure Zia's definition of success and help her achieve those goals.
