The age of things is altered by perspective, Although the tables in the painting above are exactly the same size and dimensions (on the paper) they are 2 separate years in ones life..To a 4 year old child one year passes slowly as it is at that point a whole quarter of that lifetime , at forty years old 1 year is all too fleeting as it is by then become a fraction of those 40 accumulated years...
