Rifle Design Sketch — Description
This is the follow up piece to my recent pistol design sketch. Another weapon to be featured in my current pet project. This one is for the main combat firearm of the Interplanetary Marine Corps.

The Stubrick Arms MBR-1455-2 "fifty-five" combat rifle is the primary service rifle of the Interplanetary Marine Corps. With the advent of personal power armor, older "assault rifle" weapons quickly fell out of favor, as their intermediate cartridge rounds did not pack the penetration power required in modern infantry combat. To meet the needs of the IMC, Stubrick Arms developed the MBR series "main battle rifles", highly durable, reliable combat firearms chambered for full power rifle rounds.

The MBR-1455-2 "fifty-five" rifle comes with an accessory rail, and under-barrel hardpoints to allow for a wide variety of combat accessories to fit the needs of any battlefield. The fiftyfive also includes an adjustable stock to allow for comfortable use whether in bulky power armor, or in standard fatigues. It has a selective fire option with the choice of single, three round burst, or fully automatic fire.

Currently depicted accessories include an electronic sight for designated marksman duty, and lowlight conditions. And the bayonet/combat guard suite of additions, that incorporate a hydraulically powered bayonet with armor piercing thrusting point, and a reinforced guard rail running the length of the barrel that protects the rifle from being damaged or cut apart by dedicated melee weapons.
