Unity — Description
Originally, I had intended to create a piece with markers with an entirely different theme and style. However, I prefer this piece as it conveys a narrative between a couple, and the colours create a harmonious unity between the silhouettes. The drawing was inspired by three songs, each with unique contribution during its conception. The song "Run Into Flowers" - M83 conjured up scenes of euphoria and vibrant colours as the song has very rich atmosphere, so I decided to apply a distinctive visual style to the drawing that matches my perception of the track. The second song, "All is Full of Love" - Björk helped with the narrative of the piece and how I want to create harmony among the variety of colours in the piece. The song has multiple interpretations, but every time I listen to the song, I always viewed it as being a song about the beauty of love; especially at the climax of the track. Björk's powerful vocals echoes someone who understands the complex nature of intimacy whether positive or negative, it helps illustrate a romantic narrative. The last song is "Beyond" - Daft Punk, the song made me envision the setting, as it also reminded me of some dreamlike environment, so I drew a beach at night. Whether it be the ballad within the song, or the enchanting disco-infused jazz solo at the end, I can't help but imagine something completely ethereal. In fact, this drawing was more creatively inspired by a song from "Random Access Memories" than a previous idea I had. It still incorporates a beach setting, but with higher meaning. This piece was drawn with pencil crayons entirely, and I'll laminate it so it can be bounded on my sketchbook as a cover. I hope you like it!
