14 - cannibalism — Description
Day 14: "cannibalism".
He's not a conscious, willful cannibal; not like Hannibal. This is fundamentally, literarily, psychologically, and philosophically different. It is however, necessarily the same.

I took this in the direction of the abject; not so much the conventional 'abject horror' abject (though its certainly present). A literary understanding of the abject.

As provided by Purdue University, in referring to Julia Kristeva's 'Powers of Horror:
"the abject refers to the human reaction (horror, vomit) to a threatened breakdown in meaning caused by the loss of the distinction between subject and object or between self and other. The primary example for what causes such a reaction is the corpse (which traumatically reminds us of our own materiality); however, other items can elicit the same reaction: the open wound, shit, sewage, even the skin that forms on the surface of warm milk."

The human body can only ingest so much. If it is a substance found to be overwhelmingly disagreeable, it may reject it, resulting in expulsion. Often violent, often disgusting. Abject.
Upon regaining consciousness, he became possessed by that such violent impulse, to vomit. That alone an unusual occurrence, it is made more provocative in its composition: an unmistakable combination of blood and tissue.
Such a discharge being quickly and unmistakably discerned as originating from without, from another biological being and a human at that, poses with immediacy, a sort of dread and dilemma that must fundamentally prove harrowing to any self-aware being. An affect of serious devastation.
