To nerd out a bit : magazine curvature is proportionnal to bullet taper. But a magazine curving backwards would mean the bullets are larger on the front than on the back, which wouldn't work.

Maybe they are caseless xD Yeah, I just wanted to explore this idea even if it seemed impractical. I've shown these designs to a fellow a year ago and they said the same thing that it wouldn't work.
Will remember that! Maybe we could swap the bullets for some hyper-velocity-caseless rounds or something in a sci-fi setting. Hmm...

From a purely aesthetic standpoint it does look pretty sleek.
I guess with caseless rounds you could make them curve any way you wanted to prevent the magazines
from protruding too much.
