One thing I thought about is why not equip Data with 3 communicators or tracking devices, one for him, one for Picard, and one to track the Scimitar. That way when the Scimitar caught up with the Enterprise in the Bassen rift, the Enterprise would then be able to track the Scimitar with the homing device they planted onto it and transmit the frequency to Denotra when she, the Valdore and another Mogai class warbird were sent to assist the Enterprise.

The three would then be able to concentrate their firepower and overpower the Scimitar. Not destroy it as depicted here, but cripple it and arrest Shinzon.

Not only that, but tracking Federation starships? Why not hack into Starfleet's database like Krall did on Beyond, or hack into Starfleet's defence codes like Nero did when he extracted the information from Captain Pike? Either way they could then move towards Earth undetected and destroy it with the thalaron generator.

Plus upping the stakes, Picard and Data before escaping the Scimitar steals the key to the Scimitar's thalaron weapon -- say that weapon Krall was searching for. Without it, his weapon would be useless.

I stand by what I say, Star Trek Beyond is what Star Trek: Nemesis should have been -- but finding a way to repair the Enterprise-E instead if writing it off like they did with that Enterprise.
