"Wyrms are often mistaken for snakes or other deadly beasts, though they are almost completely harmless. Rarely growing more than 34 inches (86 cm) long, Wyrms are lithovores that live off of rocks and minerals found in the extensive cave systems they call home. Their tiny mouths are lined with complex, layered, blade like teeth called dental batteries that they use to grind minerals into digestible chunks which is then further broken down within their digestive tract by diamond gastroliths. These intestinal stones are highly sought after by alchemists and jewelers for both their unique properties and the iridescent sheen that builds up on them from years of use.
Extremely communal by nature, they prefer to live in large groups - called a "Wriggle" - and show their affections by giving gifts of particularly 'tasty' rocks, metals, and shiny things they encounter."
