Description

For a commission, I needed four rather robust alien dudes who had enough similarity to obviously belong to the same species, but distinct from each other.

I used Genesis 2 Male, but it will work for any G2, G3, or G8 figure, male or female. It also works for any non-human (I’ve used it for male and female ghouls -- A Valkyria Halloween ). Creature Creator is required (not sure if that’s available for G8 yet, although there is a fantastic fantasy face morph set out now).

First, I loaded a base G2M. Working with what I wanted for the aliens as a species, I engaged the following morphs:

Elf Short Ears 100 %

Gorilla Face 50 %

Gorilla Face HD 100 %

Bodybuilder 100 %

Brow Define 100 %

Brow Depth 100 %

Brow Width 78 %

The nose morphs are too many to list, but they compensate for Gorilla Face’s flat nose, and to give these guys a hooked nose.

I saved that as a Shaping Preset.

Next, I loaded four separate G2Ms, and applied the Shaping Preset to each. Under each preset, I engaged a different base figure and head. Left to right are Darius, Scott, Boris, and Michael.

Some further tweaking to each was required, such as twisting and skewing a few noses, messing up some teeth, adjusting height, and making Boris portly instead of beefy.

All the skins are the exact same (Derek by Fred Winkler), to save resources loading into Iray. Bump and Normal maps are from Sickleyield’s Children of the Serpents. The face was run through Brow Remover, as the original drawing I’m working with featured eyebrowless dudes. But once was all it needed. I changed colors within the shader sliders, adjusting base color and translucency for some more individuality, and made new diffuse maps for Darius and Michael for their tattoos.

All in all, this took about an hour, with most of the time devoted to making the tattooed diffuse maps.

This bunch looks like enforcers for the Elvish Mafia!

Using the Shaping Preset, I could make as many aliens as I have base figures to play with.
