Description
This is a commission for a friend and their oc in her uniform. I also have other alternate versions of this same drawing that is NSFW, which is without her clothing: muddytiger.deviantart.com/art/…The table, floors, and flower arrangements, including the glass vase, is all designed by me. I did them without a visual reference. The only things that did need a reference on was the character and the light casting from the window at an angle.
At first, this images light source was going to be from the right side of the room, but after I looked at it, it felt better to be on the left side. As for the table, it didn't have a mirror on it at first, but then I remembered my mother having similar antique wood furniture designed like this. When I tried looking for references, there was non to come closely compared to my memories of what my mother had collected over the years. So, I had to re-design it based on what I remembered and a twist of modern tables that have mirrors on them. The reason I added a mirror to the table was to help balance the large blank wall behind her; adding a framed mirual or hanging mirror wouldn't be so easy to do and would take away the center of the drawing.
Once the table was finished, the right side looked too bare and open. To help off-set the image, I wanted to add some flowers. The first ones I wanted to do were orange Orchids arching over to the left side in a square vase; although it was beautiful, it did not fit into the image. I then remembered that some flower arrangements didn't always had other flowers in it, but sometimes had vines, leaves, or decorative branches and twigs. I realised that I had to do a more simple arrangement that didn't draw too much attention to itself with color, but in shape.
Lilies are simple in shape, but had that perfect effect of beauty that I was looking for that would go well with the decorative twisted wood. The Lilies were going to be pink, but then that took away too much from the red furniture and floors. Next was the vase, which was the colorful one.
The vase was going to be smooth glass, but I didn't change out my textured brush when coloring it. It looked good being rough. The textured glass vase was a nice touch that the image needed without taking over the drawing.
I'm most pleased and proud of how all of these elements came out and come together.
All drawn free handed, only 2 references used, props in the image are original designs.
Character, Vela, does not belong to me.
Elites belong to 343i.
