Description
Craig Powers- Age: 13
- Region: Unova
History: He's been living with his dad since the divorce, a pilot who constantly is flying everywhere in the world. He's taken on some of the gyms in Unova, earned a handful of badges, and constantly gets into misadventures when not supervised. He's taken on the IPL challenge to test his skills and learn how to be the very best there ever was!
Personality: Admittedly a bright boy, the kid is very happy and excitable, and is very battle hungry. If he isn't battling or pushing his pokemon to their highest potential, he's reading strategy books, and learning as much as he can about competitive battling. In terms of battle style, he's very typical, goes for attack, attack, and attack. Coordinators give him trouble, however, as he hasn't yet gotten to the point of developing or working techniques into applications that aren't intuitive or straightforward. He isn't as smart or tough as he brags about being, but it should be noted he has managed to tame and train several high level monsters in a relatively short amount of time.
- Pokemon
o Joltik “Spits”
Sting Shot, Electronet, Spider Web, Thunder Wave + Agility/Bug Buzz
Ability: Compound Eyes
Older than he looks, Spits tends to ride along on Craig’s person. Spits is quiet and shy, and prefers to use more technical tricks in battle to avoid or affect the opponent rather than face them head-on. He gets his name from the stringy wire-like techniques he spits out in battle. Spits works well with most of the other members in the team because of this very helpful skill set. Bug Buzz has been utilized in the past with the various string attacks to create an effect not unlike being caught in the middle of a giant violin. The technique grows in power the more strings there are floating about, and the more electricity flowing through them. Works well with Boom’s moveset as a result, but the move itself is seldom seen.
o Seismitoad “Boom”
Drain Punch, Hyper Voice, Venoshock, Bubble Beam + Eathquake/Scald
Ability: Poison Touch
Music FREAK. Boom is constantly wrapped up in music, and rarely seems to listen to much else. He has exhibited selective hearing, giving him capability to hear Craig during battle, but never anytime else. Wears a big pair of those huge DJ headphones 24/7. In battle, he shows a very hyper offensive battle style, but not in the usual “crush everything” manner. Boom instead has a moveset more suited for dealing with opponent’s inner workings – be it using Hyper Voice to destroy the opponent with sound or the “Other way”. Craig takes full advantage of the Poison Hand technique and taught the giant frog Drain Punch – triple whammy in that it not only hurts the opponent by draining their energy, but heals Boom of whatever damage he was too big or slow to avoid and poisons the foe without them realizing it until too late. Then Boom launches Venom Shock. This, in combination with the other internal trauma the opponent takes, can make Boom very dangerous to fight, and most opponents fear Boom afterwards. His sonic assault is also used to activate Earthquake and Boiling Water, making them extremely potent in their own right.
o Fraxure “Killer” (shiny)
Dual Chop, X-Scissor, Aerial Ace, Razor Wind + Guillotine/Giga Impact
Ability: Mold Breaker
BANDANA DRAGON. Killer is Craig’s #1 favorite Pokémon out of his whole collection. Killer is jovial and energetic – borderline hyperactive and manic. Craig cares for and gives Killer special attention because of it, and Killer responds with a huge amount of enthusiasm. Killer doesn’t really lord this status over the team, and actually is the youngest member of the team. His burning desire to remain a Fraxure and pummel every other opposition is admirable and one of the personality quirks that won over Craig’s heart. He always wears a bandana around his neck, even though Craig says he looks like he was wearing one already. Killer earns his name out of sheer ego and confidence.
o Beheeyem “Marvin”
Psychic, Light Screen, Reflect, Trick Room + Simple Beam/Miracle Eye
Ability: Telepathy
Like his namesake, Marvin the Beheeyem is depressed. So very depressed. His processing power is huge, but he doesn’t like interacting with people and is pessimistic and depressing to hang out with. He specializes in wall techniques and overall turning the field into his own plaything. Craig and Marvin are friends… Marvin doesn’t acknowledge it beyond helping Craig win battles and eating with him. Marvin does have a couple triggers that will make him fight, which will force him to use the move Psychic to obliterate a target. Marvin gets quite sadistic in this manner – he hates people who take his intelligence or skill for granted, and will cause people to pay for their actions. Evasion spammers and Dark types in general should be wary around Marvin – Miracle Eye is one of his favorite moves to use when he’s angry, and by using Simple Beam he can easily make you wish you never messed with him, eliminating some of those fun abilities. Under no circumstances are you allowed to fight Marvin when he’s pissed off for more than thirty seconds – it only takes that long for him to render the battle field his world – with him as god. The Walls he puts up become impossible to break or see, it is impossible to hide from him with Miracle Eye, Trick Room enforces a dominance over time and reality, and Simple Beam makes you totally helpless in this realm. Marvin may play with you for a bit like a sick deity before finally letting you go with a massive Psychic blast. Craig isn’t a fan of this, but like the “Dragon Mode” for Slips, there are times and places for this “God Realm”. For future reference, to make this “God Realm” skill an option for Craig or Marvin, you must either jeopardize or hurt Craig with that very goal in mind, or insult Marvin and/or Craig’s intelligence for a sustained period of time.
o Hydreigon “Razer”
Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Tri Attack, Acrobatics + Draco Meteor/Earthquake
Ability: Levitate
This Hydreigon has Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personalities for those of you who use the term "phobia" still). Razer's had it since he was a Deino. He was previously owned by an abusive trainer, then released prior to Craig capturing him. The default personality is a nervous, people pleasing personality that's generally eager to help, but doesn't do so well when he thinks he's unintentionally hurt someone. There are three other personalities that reside in Razer, and all of them have a mild delusional disorder wherein they think their sock puppets are separate personalities as well. The other three personalities manifest as a stoic, noble pokemon that abhors getting involved directly in fights, a personality that acts as a psychiatrist (and due to the stoic personality's ability to read, the psychiatrist personality is able to somewhat help manage the condition) and a hyper aggressive fighter pokemon that does tend toward more feral attacks than usual, triggered upon pure desperation and a fear of Salamence. Note: If I catch you using an Salamence against Razer, I will alert you now he will murder it. No ifs ands or buts. They talk to each other intermittently through the puppets, the characters in the puppets changing depending on the day, time, and place. Craig is mildly aware of Razer's condition, and tries to help however he can by never fighting Salamence.
