TWD Assignment 1

Story:
    A couple days into the Hungarian trek of the trail, and Jess couldn’t feel more than soaked. What made it worse, was Andy and her silence. The whole trip the older woman had not uttered a more more than necessary, and it was quick to get old. It was high time she pushed for some information, because this was not how she was going to spend her days in the wilderness.
    “Andy.” She called out with a push in her heels to get Cali up beside Heart. “You ok?”
    Andy’s emerald eyes glanced over to her newbie, and it was like she was barely even invested into the conversation. Still, she replied. “Yes, Jess. I’m fine.”
    She didn’t buy it, not one bit. “Are you still worried about Cadice?” That sparked something.
    “Of course I am, but I trust her to do what’s best for her. I can’t hover around her like a mother hen all of the time.” She said it calmly but there was that faint underlay of something else. “The doctors told her to rest, so I put her off any horses until we get back. That’s all I can do from here.”
    “I didn’t really get told how it happened, care to share?” It was an honest question, and Andy was talking more than she had so she wanted all she could get.
    “To be honest I don’t really know either, she said her knee buckled and she fell. That shouldn’t have caused her whole leg to do what it did.”
    Jess looked at her confused, under the impression Cadice had only sprained it and was off to heal. “What do you mean by that?”
    Andy looked forward, her brows knitting like she was in a debate with herself. “Jess, she couldn’t move or feel her leg. For days it was like that, and even the doctors couldn’t figure it out.”
    “Holy shit.” That was all she could muster from the knowledge she’d gained. She had no idea that it had been that serious. “No wonder you’ve been so quiet..”
    Andy was quick to correct her. “That’s not why. I know she’s in good hands at home.”
    “What then? Something happen with you and Gav-”
    “That’s none of your business, Jessica.” Andy cooly stated with a glance of warning.
    Jess quickly looked away and dropped her reins as she leaned back on her baggage. “Sorry I asked…”

    After that they continued to ride in silence, but there was something on Jess’ mind. More of a wonder really. Had Cadice told anyone else about what she’d experienced?
