The Sorcerer's Curse

(This is an event designed for the month of October. Being an AU, Anything that happens here is Not Canon )

A long time ago, a great Sorcerer received a lot of respect from the people of Yueliang. He was undefeated in magic duels as his spells were impressive and powerful. He was also charismatic and humble. He was met with great fame and praise, and eventually this corrupted his ego. One day he took on an Apprentice to pass on his ways so that his art wouldn't die, but the Apprentice disagreed with the Sorcerer's attitude and disregard for the people that looked up to him. Because of this, he challenged the Sorcerer to a magical duel that would set the score straight. The Sorcerer, for the first time in his life, lost. After the bewilderment of his loss, the Sorcerer banished the apprentice away in anger. This wouldn't do, he wasn't going to be out-bested and out-witted by an apprentice of all people. The Sorcerer devised a plan to get his revenge. He would seize the Apprentice's magic and make it his own, as well as anyone who would stand in his way.

He created a Blue Jewel that would do just that. Seeing what would possibly be his life's greatest work, he snuck into the Apprentice's home while he slept, and stabbed him in the heart with the point of the Jewel. The precious stone did its work... but one unanticipated side effect occurred. Despite the apprentice being drained of his magic, as well as being sufficiently dead, he noticed a rapid formation of sharp crystal protrusions that would appear on the corpse. It was only once the corpse began to rise that the Sorcerer ran away to safety, leaving the monstrosity to wander. The body of the Apprentice walked aimlessly and without sentience or real consciousness. He began seeking out other magic users, and much like his method of death, would stab them with the crystal growths. The contact of the crystals shards would drain their magic, but despite never actually achieving death most times, they would lose their sentience, and develop the same crystal growths. After that, the victims would carry on with the same mission as the last, slowly spreading among Magic users, and occasionally non-magic users alike.

Seeing what had soon become of the people, the Sorcerer realized his mistake. No doubt eventually, those... things would continue on their way until the entire world would meet the same fate. The Sorcerer decided it was necessary to destroy the jewel before it would get to that... but found that he couldn't bring himself to destroy his work. Instead, he took the Jewel to a hidden subterranean lake, where he placed seals and wards on the cave in order to contain his creation. As soon as he was done, he drowned himself in the water forever clutching onto it to deter people from stealing it. Meanwhile the creatures stood still and turned into transparent crystal statues, as a reminder what greed could do, not only to themselves but also people around them.

To present day...

A couple of reckless treasure hunters had heard of a cave with a very rare jewel, And without thinking they removed it from it's cavernous prison. This unleashed the curse once more. It spread quickly between villages and to the main City of Yueliang. Praodus has also been largely affected in the same way. The few survivors that managed to escape this plague have gone and taken refuge in the Northern Snow Plains.

A year after the outbreak, they have built a decent refuge to protect the survivors decently from the harsh cold of a permanent winter. They cannot live there indefinitely, though. Food is now running low for everyone, people need to take turns to eat their meager daily meals in order to stretch it out longer. The low quantities of food and the cold has left them weakened; making them succumb more easily to disease and starvation. They need to survive by finding resources, or better yet, the brave ones need to put an end to the curse.

The Goal is to bring the Jewel back to the subterranean lake , or if possible, destroy it. It currently lies in a camp right next to the cavern system in the mountains near Ozua.

Everyone starts in the Northern snow plains, which is the Sothos region of the map.

Resources are rare and authority is gone, Beware of people outside the refuge as well as Crystal Zombies. Both could try to kill you in order to take any loot you may have.

Zombies are only interested in magic users, they will ignore people who have no magical abilities. However, they will not hesitate to kill a non-magical person if they are attacked.

This will last for the entirety of the month, so have fun and don't be afraid to ask other players to participate.
