Description
NOTE: Before you critique saying I messed up the reflection in the mirror, I KNOW! I started colouring before I updated/corrected the lineart in Manga Studio to make the spot blacks version (see scraps gallery).FINALLY! I got this beast done. It took a LOT longer than expected because I kept re-doing things and trying different shading styles. The whole point of this work was to try to produce the effect of live action mixed with 2D animation (like in Roger Rabbit) without using any photos (I could have used textures though...oh well), so I could try doing a whole comic with this effect. It didn't quite turn out how I hoped, but it's not a total failure.
Now I know why I don't use the smudge tool to shade...I can't control it that well. At first I tried normal cel shading for everything (except the guy), but then I couldn't get away from using my usual gradient/airbrush method. I've become addicted to one rendering technique! For the guy in the door I used cel shading and smudge tool as well as coloured lines to make him stand out more.
(I think soon I'll have to start watermarking my work)
