From the get go, Pepper is definitely someone that can be relied on, it's very rare that she'll turn down an offer to help or even something simple as just hanging around and shooting the breeze. It's incredibly rare to see her not acting full of life, the Swampert often cracking jokes or flashing smiles or grins, a trait she gained when traveling with her trainer to help her cope during her bad spells.
Her time on a team and having her store has pushed Pepper to be as friendly as she can be, doing so hasn't wronged her yet.

Pepper can be carefree to a fault, while she has a tight hold on her business, the pokehuman often lets things slip by or finds herself letting things go without much thought. Part of it goes hand in hand with her need to avoid certain situations, mostly intense arguments and the threat of a battle. As far as Pepper is concerned, she gave all of that up when she was sent to Kalos.
Despite this, the young woman has a slight stubborn streak. When she sets her mind to something she becomes passionate about, it's very rare she leaves it unfinished.

History

Like most of the Mudkip line, Pepper was born and raised in a Hoenn lab, waiting for her time to be paired with a fledgling trainer and sent off to take on the challenges of the outside word.
Pepper's new partner came in the form of an older girl who'd spent most of her early years suffering from different health problems. With a goal and a chance to travel, the duo set off on their travels around Hoenn, becoming quite the close pair. Their journey didn't seem to go as smoothly as most though, Pepper's trainer often having to pause between cities when her health took random turns for the worst. It was during these quiet moments that Pepper's love for art started to grow, she'd often watch and try to copy what her trainer was doing, eventually leading the human to try and teach her everything she knew.

During their travels around Hoenn, Pepper grew stronger, along with the rest of her team. Their win at the league became one of the Swampert's proudest moments and the last time that any of them would get the chance to battle together again.
The months that followed after saw Pepper watching as her closest partner became sicker and sicker, the Swampert was eventually given a choice; Be given away to another member of the girl's family or to be released and have the chance to wander freely. With no option to stay with her trainer, Pepper settled with the latter. At her trainer's request she was sent across to Kalos, a place she'd often wished of visiting.

For a while Pepper explored, keeping to herself to avoid capture by eager trainers wanting something to bolster their teams. As she travelled she came across a small group of pokemon, each of them eager to welcome her into the fold. Through this group she eventually discovered, and was gifted a dittech.
Adjusting to life as a human wasn't exactly easy, sure the walking upright was simple enough but everything else.. It took time. Luckily enough for the Swampert, she was able to get to where she needed, the group from before giving her a hand.
After years of living as a pokehuman, Pepper is as comfortable as ever. She currently owns her own tattoo and piercing studio in Cyllage.
