Description

Artist's Note
This painting was born from a profound sense of vulnerability in the face of a vast and often overwhelming world.

We all seek something to shield us. Sometimes that shield is real; other times, it is merely the last fragile thing we have left to hide behind. It may offer little protection, yet we cling to it because we have nothing else.

People often say that the best defense is an attack. I have never found that to be true for myself. Instead, I tend to carry difficult conversations with me, replaying them over and over—reflecting on what was said, how I responded, or why I remained silent. Processing those moments takes time, and they often stay with me long after they have passed.

This painting was created over several sessions, each lasting between forty and sixty minutes. Throughout the process, it invited me to pause, reflect, and even grieve a little. As the colors deepened, the shadows grew richer, and the details emerged, the figure itself began to speak to me in ways I hadn't anticipated. It became more than an image—it became an expression of emotions that are difficult to put into words.

What do you feel when you look at this painting?
