Street Samurai — Description
The deadliest "street samurai" in Tokyo is a Yakuza assassin who goes by the name PNG. But PNG has a secret; she's not Japanese. If Yakuza disocvers that she is actually their neighbor to the north, it'll be "PNG's" head. Literally. Luckily, no one has unmasked her...yet.

PNG's assignments have taken her around the globe, and then some. A few years back, a mysterious client paid PNG's boss to borrow her for a hit, and sent her to hunt down someone named "Snow." Snow turned out to be a young girl of 14, and a genuis of a hacker. Well, PNG wasn't going to kill a child or the greatest mind of the 22nd Century, so instead she helped Snow escape to Mars, and offered her client the heart of a pig (named Hen Wen) as Snow's. And then added another deadly secret to her list, right under her ethnicity.

But so far no one knows either of her secrets, and business has continued for PNG as usual, as Yakuza loans her out to anyone in need of a mercenary. An animal rights group once paid for PNG to bomb a laboratory that was engineering dalmatians to make illegal fur coats. Not long after that, PNG helped liberate hundreds of kidnapped boys from an island where a mad scientist was turning them into donkeys. (Apparently a sentient puppet-droid and his cricket sidekick had escaped that island decades earlier, and only thought then to mention the crimes against humanity to the authorities. The pair claims they were really, really busy.) She also once served as a temporary body guard to a clone of Anastasia Romanov. Her most recent assignment involved a search-and-destroy mission for a rather hideous alien with a literal "green thumb" who had been terrorizing Central Park, before proceeding to engulf all of New York City in ivy.

PNG's current assignment has now begun. Her client is a rich young Norwegian named Anna, who wants help to track down her missing sister Elsa.

Pretty obviously "Snow Crash" inspired, with the swords. And "street samurai" are of course from William Gibson's "Neuromancer."
