These are proper Germanic Kobolds, a Germanic Gnome or Goblin. They never were dog people, they never were little reptile people, they absolutely never were little dragon people. These are all fan fic pop culture Kobolds. Kobolds were thought to either be house fairies like Brownies and Domovoi and/or earth fairies that would mine under ground and back in the day Germanic people would hear them clinking away with their picks. And yes, they are a type of fairy or fey. They can vanish so I made imagine they can meld or camouflage with the earth.
This took about 5 hours and was penciled with Staedtler 2H drafting pencil, inked with traditional Deleter nip dip pens with Higgins black waterproof Indian Ink and given an ink wash for tonal value on 11" x 14" Strathmore Bristol.
