If snakes weren’t so bitey I would love to pick them up and carry them around like my cats.

Yeah, some aren’t so bad. I had some experience with my brother’s boa and ball python back before he realized he wasn’t equipped to look after large snakes. It’s just hard to get over my nerves in wondering if something will scare one into biting.

Yeah, infection is really the only risk with most of them. I’m just not used to getting bitten, with only one serious cat bite under my belt so far. I’m sure my luck will run out soon.

It bled a ton and there was a lot of bruising. It also left a scar, which I’ve never gotten from a bite before. Depending on your immune system status and thoroughness of cleaning, they can get infected pretty bad.

Maybe it is your skin. Some of the cats can be that way. Males will sometimes have thick skin on their throats so it is hard to draw blood, and some have almost no scruff to hold onto.

Interesting. Cats will react differently to scruffing after leaving kittenhood, so it could be a personality thing. I will have to ask my vet if she has ever heard of doing that.

I asked my boss today and she said that no, she would not use that as a restraint method on cats.

She had never heard of people doing it, but she said she wouldn’t try it because of possible pain or tissue damage if left on too long.

Yeah she doesn’t like using too harsh of methods if she can avoid it, which sometimes limits what she will try. Unless something is trying to kill us.

Some of the cats we work with are ferals trapped for the local sterilize and release program. I’m not sure how you’d get them to hold still long enough to get the clothespin on their necks.
Now that my curiosity has been aroused I kind of want to try it on my own cats though, if I can find one the right size and shape. I don’t think we have any that would distribute pressure in the right way at the moment.

I put it up five days ago. It didn’t get many comments, so I wonder if there was a bug with the watchers message centers keeping them from seeing it. I think that happens sometimes.
Yeah, you said you got some minor bites and scratches. I try not to use gloves if I don’t have to since it makes it hard to hold on, but towels are great with both cats and small dogs.

I’ll let you know. I do wish it showed the cat’s reaction before and after with having something uncomfortable done to it. That’s when you need a really good grip on them with those natural handholds.

Somehow the song makes that a bit creepy, as if they’re performing some kind of brainwashing experiment.

I’ve seen some pretty funny videos of spiders. Is it the one where someone scares a spider off their computer screen by playing a trippy video with a tunnel of colors?
