After the incident, in which Pine had calmed down after returning back to Joltex home and drowning his sorrows in a large plate of waffles, Cynder invited the boys to stay the night in her cabin.

"Oh Pine," Cynder sighed worriedly, pulling her adoptive son onto her lap and sinking into the sea of fluffy cushions below, "Please, don't leave us again, you really scared us~"

Pine felt his eyes well up with tears, and he instantly buried his face into Cynder's soft chest.
"I-I'm sorry mama... I... I..." he struggled to finish off his sentence.
Joltex rubbed his back and looked down at him, trying not to cry himself.
"If you don't want to talk about it, it's okay."

Pine started to shudder. He couldn't stop thinking about the horrifying encounter with that beast. He continued to weep in Cynder's arms, panting with uneven breaths. Cynder ran her claws through the green tuft of fur on his head, and Pine lay his ears back. Memories flooded through the purple biped head as she cast her mind back to when she was attacked by the quad in that forest. That, of course, was unintentional - an accident - but knowing that Pine had this full on fight with another creature, must've hurt him even more. She didn't want her baby going through anything like this...

Holding him closer, an idea flickered in her mind and she prayed that it would work.
Using her (fairly limited) knowledge of wind magic, her eye glands began to glow bright orange as she tried her best to muffle all the sounds that could be heard in the room. When everything was almost completely silent, Cynder did something that she hadn't really done before...

...she started to sing...
It wasn't very vocal, more of a gentle hum, but it was enough to calm Pine down slightly.
She tried to cast her voice a little further so that it echoed throughout the room. She felt Pine's tension fade gradually as she continued to sing and stroke his fur.

..."I'm such a terrible mother..." Cynder thought to herself, "...I should've been there for him..."
