“Tilt your chin up a little, darling… yes, that’s perfect,” the photographer cooed as another flash exploded in front of my eyes. My heart was hammering so fast it drowned out her voice. Just a few days ago, I thought this voucher from the most popular girl in school was a chance to boost my socials, maybe finally stop being invisible. But now—dressed in a long gown with a daring slit, teetering in black stilettos, fake nails glued to my hands, makeup painted flawless, a wig brushing against my shoulders—I could barely breathe.
What I didn’t know: when she bought the voucher, she told the studio I was a boy desperate to become a girl, that I wanted the world to see it. She even paid extra for the “full transformation” package, asking them to blindfold me for the big reveal. I walked in shy, clueless, and let them do everything.
