Daddy...? — Description
The sounds came heavy from downstairs. Angry thumps, wood against flesh, over and over again. It would not do to go downstairs, in the dark, in the night. Good children must stay away from the bad. But...why was he bad? He had done nothing against Father, had he? Disobedience? Had that been it? Oh such a bad sin to be guilty of. You had to obey Father, they were his property, his subordinates. The thumps and the cries of protest continued, a vile litany of dirty words and names were spat in disgusted anger. Oh dear. Father was so angry. Why did he not obey? He was the older one, supposed to be the good example, right? But this proved otherwise. And the thought scared her. Her own brother...a bad'un? And yet...it seemed to be wrong and as much as it terrified her to even consider the possibility, what if her Father was wrong?

The little figure was silhouetted in a halo of light spilling from they yet unspoiled solace of her bedroom. A dark figure below with wild eyes, his rich purple robe hanging wildly about him, stared upwards. Eyes shinning like a predator, body blocking the sobbing form behind him. A single word broke the silence.

"Daddy?"

The figure clenched his teeth and hissed. But not at the good child above, his sweet little, obedient girl. Oh no. His precious...property, angry at her, never. She was a good child. Turning away he spat down at the broken figure of the boy laying on the floor. He reached down and yanked him up by his hair, dragging him to his knees. The weak sobs were choked back as the old man hissed.

"Now you have done it, you little pansy! You woke your little sister and scared her. How dare you! Worthless, weak, cowardly sissy boy. You apologize for scaring her right now, or so help me...this will seem like a dream compared to what will come after!"


In the estate of the mad clockmaker, fear reigned.

Yeah, the Major General is not a nice fellow. He regularly beat his son William because he refused to be like his father and take part in his nightly cleansings. This time the beating went too far and woke Wilhelmina. Of course he blamed his son for crying out, even though he had been trying to be quiet. Not just because the beatings would get worse if he cried, but hearing him cry out might have scared his sister. This time she heard the sound of her Father beating him with his cane and it woke her. So it is not even his fault.
