Born with kindness deeprooted into her and raised by her mother to be a modest person, Yamato is an individual doted with a will to always do the best. An altruist by nature, she is the first to get out of her way to help others in a daily basis and is extremely caring and protective of the ones she considers dear. Highly active and independent, she finds motivation to pursue almost all of her objectives to the end and is always striving to improve her mind and body as long as they don't involve being sociable. She often proves herself to be reliable for she always puts her all in keeping her word if she promises anything. The lass also tends to put others in her thoughts above herself often times, and finds no difficulty in sharing what she has for the well-being of others. With humble origins, she knows how to value what she can have and gets generally upset seeing others taking people, opportunities or anything for granted. With that, however, comes her extreme envy over people with things she wishes she had, like spending time with their mothers or better social skills. A hopeless romantic at heart, she more than often sees the quality of others above their flaws and insists on believing everyone can be good.

Focused more internally than to the outside, she is a rather reserved and awkward person around crowds, coming off as 'antipathic'. That is nothing but an impression though; she actually yearns for interactions, she just doesn't know how to react to, carry on with or start any.

Do not be fooled by her "loner" tendencies expecting her to be a quiet individual though. She is actually emotionally-driven and explosive if picked on with the right subjects or when the right buttons are pressed. Throwing tantrums and aggressive fits if things bother her, she cannot deal well with pressure and does not know how to suppress emotions; but as soon as her feelings settle down she immediately regrets her actions and seeks to apologize for what she did, unless something is holding her back. She is not a bad person at all.

A bit impulsive and single-minded, she finds it hard to do multiple things at once or focus on details. She is more reflexive than anything and can have some hardships following plans accordingly. The type to get easily worked up and restless over small stuff like superstitions, violation of personal space or superficial gossiping.

[Background:]

Only child born to a single mother, Yamato didn't have a luxurious childhood but was raised comfortably. Without even knowing who her father could possibly be, not only did her mother perform both roles but also made sure her daughter saw a friend in her, despite being away from home working more frequently than she would like to. Even so with the time barrier, Yamato shares a strong and trust-filled bond with her mother and holds her as one of her top priorities.

Being alone home often, the girl learned how to take care of herself from early age and picked up physical activities as hobby to keep her mind occupied. After juggling between sports and trying a bit of everything, the girl settled for volleyball at middleschool, but not out of passion; it was just the one thing she grew the most familiar with. Between the training and academics routine, however, she often struggled with the fame of being a 'bad individual' due to her not-so-very-social behavior and tendency to get into physical fights with delinquent neighborhood boys. Yet it was never out of ill intentions or malice, but rather her social awkwardness and impulsive need to protect people in need from danger speaking louder. Still being mistaken as someone not to stick around with, she grew up with little to no friends aside of a couple teammates, but nothing that deeply bothered her. That only gave her more and more space to focus on training instead.

Or so she thought until last year of middleschool came and her team managed to get into the nationals. Even all the hard training and focus on her part, they were faced with a humiliating defeat straight away for the competition was above the level they were used to. Graduating soon and not being able to have a second chance, Yamato became extremely unsure about her own skills, something she still isn't over even today, but not enough to make her give up on the sport for good. She promised to herself to change her focus a bit once highschool life started, to maybe help her take her mind away from it. Maybe trying to be a bit more social and make new friends would be a good new fresh start.

...Not that it did exactly help until now, though. As a senior she's still extremely awkward around people, just more frustrated about being a loner.

■ Her clothes make her look scrawny but she's actually a compact beefcake underneath them. She doesn't like her muscles, however, and is conscious of letting them be seen.
■ This loser never kissed someone in her whole life.
■ Has two pet rabbits named Lt. Carrotcake and Sg. Cottonball.
■ Was named after her late grandfather and shares the exact surname+given name with him, hence the unusual name for a girl.
■ Isn't fond of any large body of water that isn't a pool. She hates beaches, lakes and rivers but is really fond of pool parties.
■ Will take any insult directed at her mother personally.

■ Has the cheekiest grin ever with dimples in the bundle.
■ Has the habit of eating while standing up, for no reason. She just prefers it like that.
■ Despite her looks, she is nowhere close to 'masculine' or 'boyish'. She actually wishes the opposite.
■ Tends to crush rather easily but she never makes a move on them. Kinda believes no one would want to date someone like her.
■ SUPER SUPERSTITIOUS. If her daily horoscope says something bad will happen, she will grow restless until the day is over.

However, after losing terribly during the Nationals back in the day, she lost a lot of confidence and now stays low about it in Highschool. She still isn't over the loss and feels butthurt whenever someone recognizes her from Middleschool's team...

■ Honda Rina ; Kouhai - A current teammate she has known ever since middleschool. They met during Rina's first ever match as rival schools but Yamato couldn't bring herself to feel any rivalry with Rina, but rather they became friends. After refusing the idea of becoming captain in highschool again she was glad it was Rina to take over the spot. Yamato is highly protective of her.
