Radical Racer — Description

A little background:
Verity works as a mechanic for the family business, where their main customers are racers. These racers are about the only people in town who are wealthy enough to afford a vehicle. She’s been working on customers’ specialized rigs her whole life and has always dreamed of driving one of her own in a race one day. Verity’s parents tried to discourage her ambitions – they’ve seen the carnage and aftermath of these races up close for themselves. But for Verity, if you want to make it big in this town the only way is to become a radical racer. It's dangerous, but she’s got big plans and has no intention of living in the slums forever like her folks. When Verity noticed how often racers would dump old parts and broken-down rigs they thought were too far gone, it spawned an idea so crazy, it might just work...

Transport:
Thrown together with parts dumped at the shop, Verity managed to make her own racing rig. A steering wheel from here… wiring from there… add in a little tender loving care, and you’re ready to race. It might not be as sleek as some of the older rigs that are still running the races, but it sure is fast and sturdy. The body itself comes from a practically ancient rig (with just a few holes to patch up) that she found in the back. The engine and chassis are probably the only the newer parts she could scavenge.

Special Trick:
Verity fires a repurposed cannon that uses ammunition of her design. When the ball hits the ground, it opens into long strips of spikes, shredding the tires of any vehicle that drives over them. All hand-made from leftover spare parts, of course.

Lucky Charm:
When Verity first decided to embark on her crazy plan, she found some Dog Tags in an old toolbox in the back of her family’s shop. The box was full of old mementos and memorabilia belonging to some long past racer, and a relative Verity hadn't heard about from her parents. Knowing that racer blood runs through her veins gives her the courage to keep going, even in the face of danger and against all odds. With her ancestor on her side, she can’t lose!
