Silver Lining was born and raised in Cloudsdale. When Silver was young, he gradually began to lose his hearing, simply due to his genetics. By age 10, he was completely deaf. His parents fitted him for different hearing aids at the time, but Silver hated the way that they made things sound. He figured he'd rather be completely deaf than to wear his hearing aids, so once he moved out at age 18, he stopped wearing them. He wore them for a total of 8 years.
Silver Lining moved to Ponyville. Shortly after arriving, he was asked to display his cloud sculptures at an art show in Canterlot. During the art show, he met a pony named Lavender Lemonade. In just a few short days, they became friends, and just a few short weeks after that, they began dating. When Silver turned 21, he had a baby with Lavender who they lovingly named Orchid Moonrise. Orchid is now 21 years old.
Silver Lining and his family live in Ponyville. Silver is incredibly shy and soft spoken. Due to his childhood being able to hear, Silver speaks without a deaf accent. He's taught himself to reliably lip read and finds that he doesn't need or miss his old hearing aids.
