Description Firebird! Or Phoenix, for the phonetically challenged.

Dumb quick picture is dumb. And quick. I should have done this with a reference but I didn't. Can't even remember if that's the right way to draw a bird wing, but hey! Look at those cool artses! [link]

I'm auditioning, if you will. I do hope the good hipsters like it. You should check Alphabeastiary out, it's cool and things.

For the bored, here's my phoenix data.
Phoenix, about the size of a heron. Asexual and violently magical birds that have naturally brilliant blue plumage. Their diet consists entirely of nectar, most of which comes from the enormously large and infamously volatile dragon flowers (so-called because they spit fire at you if you approach them with cutting shears). They are able to reach down the flowers' long tubes by use of their long tongues, which when not in use lie curled up in a neck poach. The red nectar is what gives phoenices their brilliant red color, as well as their unfortunate habit of bursting into flames when introduced to so much as a hair dryer. Consequently, they live up on the snowy peaks of the Diamontes, far away from anything flammable.

At some point in their long life-spans (somewhere between 200-400 years), phoenices explode. Their ashes transform the nearby landscape and remain magical long after their deaths, and are used to fertilize the small, gray egg (or two) left behind from the phoenix's gullet. These eggs are nigh indestructible and can be used as deadly weapons (or doorstops, if you so choose) until, of course, they start glowing red-hot, which is a sign that the baby phoenix is about to hatch.
