Texture Tuesday: Scales Tutorial — Description
This is a very, very basic "how to make scales" tutorial for generic overlapping scales. Keep in mind that most creatures don't actually have scales like this, but they seem to be common in art. But this will give you a kind of idea of how individual scales can be made and painted in a simpler manner, which should hopefully help springboard fledgling artists to learning more advanced techniques.
