Helloooo, one and all! So for those who're wondering what I've been doing in my free time, here's your answer!
---
Now, I'll be perfectly honest, I am not a big comic book superhero fan, it's just not my kind of thing. That being said, there are a few outliers, one of 'em being Deadpool, cuz of course, but the one superhero that really stuck to me as a kid was none other than Ghost Rider.
You all know I'm a huge fan of flames and machines with wheels and an engine, so Ghost Rider pretty much ticked those boxes for lil' old me.
I grew up on the original 2007 Ghost Rider movie with Nic Cage, which, quick personal story: I didn't get to watch until I was like 13, cuz my parents thought it'd be too scary for me back then, but they had a DVD for me hidden away until I was old enough.
However, come 2014, I discover there was an all new Ghost Rider who drove a Dodge Charger, and that was none other than Robbie Reyes himself. And as you can imagine, he quickly became my favourite Ghost Rider.
He also was the sole reason I watched Agents of Shield, even though I had no idea what was going on or who these other characters were, other than Agent Coulson of course, I didn't care cuz I just wanted to see Robbie in action.
I've been wanting to do artwork of Robbie for a long time, and finally I've gotten around to making my own design of him!
---
I was always curious of Robbie's skull design being much more robotic that the previous Ghost Riders, which does raise a fair question: "Is the rest of him under that suit a bio-mechanical skeleton?"
So as you can see, I decided to play around with that idea by making his hands also robotic in nature.
I did end up going back and forth on this design quite a bit, mainly fixing up the flames and his boots.
I even took some time to cook up some weapons for Robbie, which he can manifest at the ends of his chain. Such as his signature knives, a "non-lethal" flail, and a gnarly looking clawhammer.
I was debating on giving him a sickle instead, but seeing how Robbie sometimes used everyday tools as improvised weapons, like crowbars, aforementioned clawhammers and even chainsaws, I decided to try and mesh the two together.
---
Now what's a Ghost Rider without his ride? Well, don't worry, that's still on the table.
In fact I've already completed a full turnaround of the Hell Charger, all that's left is to create a full portrait of the thing, flames and everything.
So be on the lookout for that!
