Description 1. any pic will do. it doesnt matter if its a clean one or not as long as you are happy with it (i prefer sketchy ones.) name it "lineart"(or any other name you prefer.) set this layer to multiply.
2. create a new blank layer below lineart and name it "flat" (or any other name you preffer.) this will serve as the layer for the flats. you can use many flats if necessary (e.g. one color per layer) depending on your coloring style.
3. after filling in all flats, pick one flat (e.g. horsie's body color) and right click on the layer thumbnail and select "select layer transparency." this will only select the flat color and not the whole layer. using the same color with a round brush set to multiply with an opacity of not more than 25, shade the flat. shade the rest of the flats.
4. redo process 3 but this time, changing colors and opacity. shade, shade, shade.
5. make a new fill above lineart with any texture you have (i often use grass texture from pscs) and set the layer mode to overlay with an opacity of not more than 50. change layer opacity and fill if needed.

rush tutorial. soo rushed i forgot to save the .psd file.
