I appreciate the concept, but I don't think that superheroes like that would be expressing emotion that vividly, with all the shit they'd seen.
Also, the misplaced '...' turned me off.
Other than that, I don't see stuff like this enough.

but i disagree with you...
They wouldn't call themselves heroes if they weren't moved, if they weren't touched by such things...
I don't want A Superman, or A Captain America who isn't emotionally weak...
That's their nature..
thats why they became world saviors in first place..
If they see someone in need, they run..
If they see someone in agony they help...
If they see someone die, they cry, cause of their failure to help..they are used to help, to succed, Failure is not an option for them..
People are Indifferent ... Heroism must change this... This is why i love action heroes... its not because of their unique powers...
Its because their capacity for good...
i don't know if you get my point...

The kid was probably a spoiled brat anyway, there isn't anything tragic in a child dieing. Because a life is unlived does not mean that it was important. That child's death could mean an entire family eats tonight because the wealthy kids family wont have to feed the little bastard. If cap and iron man really wanted to do something meaningful they would fix the economy, end a major (and pointless) war, save the dolphins in japan blah blah blah one kid compared to all of that? kill it and good riddance. Great piece tho.

Personally though, I would leave out the last panel and have the last words be 'fast enough', since from the image itself we can see what they weren't fast enough for.

having the size large enough that the viewer has to scroll down to see
the rest is a great effect and well done
it creates a sense of dread though the rain, words and darkened image

the colours and highlights all an atmosphere
that works with what you going for
but maybe having two was a bad move
by having heros fail to arrive in time
in my opinion
doesn't double the impact for the viewer
as it allows the lose to be shared even if it isn't
having a single hero
i think
would be more effective in that it also forces them to suffer alone
and adds a isolated desolation to the emotions felt by the viewer
