FantasyCraft - Runewaters — Description

A halfling swashbuckler duels a goblin fighter on a shattered raft as it teeters over the edge of great cataract. Pitched in battle, their blades flash as doom looms near!

The setting (the types of characters, a broken raft at the edge of a rushing waterfall) was described for me, the designs are my own. I like swashbuckling characters, and the halfling's scale makes a common main-gauche and cutlass combo into a fairly decent short sword and saber, respectively. The goblin is armed with a spear-head turned wide-bladed knife and a sort of katar/buckler thing... makeshift weapons, deadly nonetheless.

I must be gaining some ground, 'cause even though I did this illustration earlier this year, I can see a few things I wish I'd done a little differently here. A couple of spot shadows missed, and I think I should have textured the water a bit. The goblin's balance is off as well. It's good to feel like I'm improving, but damn... I hate when I can pick apart my work.

I like a lot of what I did here, but I can do it even better than this.
