This dude drove me crazy from the start. I didn't really like the background, but I wanted to at least sketch something on it. I then decided to spray a new background, which somehow wasn't quite what I wanted either. So I did what I always do; I let the painting sit for a few months until I had a suitable idea. I added more contrast with (effect) spray paint and highlighted the missing heart with a thick layer of acrylic paint. Kind of gross, but it works. ^^
About the motif: When you die, it’s said that your heart is weighed against a feather by Anubis to test its purity and grant you passage to eternal life. But it can also symbolize a broken heart. It’s all open to interpretation...
