UNSC UH-144 Falcon
40 kilometers from Karakura
“Alright Spartans this is the drop zone, Command believes that the interference is about five clicks from here,” communicated the Falcon pilot to Spartan O'Connor and Cephon who were in the open air troop bay, “Command doesn't want us to drop you any closer then here due to interference.”
“No problem lieutenant,” said Jacqueline as she pressed check her Battle Rifle, “What's the status of the over team?”
“They are about ten clicks to your right,” said the pilot as he set the UH-144 Falcon troop transport on the ground, “They will be approaching the site ninety degrees from you, effectively one of you should be able to flank the site.”
“Thanks,” said Jacqueline as both her and Ava hopped out of the Falcon and began to walk towards their objective. The drop site was located in an opening with high grass standing just above the waist. The two Spartans, who were dressed in normal combat fatigues like the standard UNSC soldier, moved through the grass scanning the area. Outside of the Falcon and her two AV-14 Hornet escorts, the area appeared completely empty with no Covenant or other craft in sight.
As the two soldiers approached the nearby tree line, the heat of the artifical sun was shielded by the the canopy of the forest. The sounds of the UNSC aircraft began to fade as the crafts flew away from the landing zone, only leaving the sound of the local wildlife.
Jacqueline looked back to see if she could see the aircraft, but couldn't due to the tree line. The outside air warmed her checks, something that she wouldn't normally experience if she was wearing her normal MJOLNIR armor.
Ava looked back at Jacqueline to see if there was something wrong. Jacqueline then made eye contact with her and gave her a node that everything was okay. The Spartans then moved quietly out into the forest towards that objective.
After about an hour of moving quietly through the forest with no contact a radio call came over team radio, “Team....F....unknown contact.”
“Say again,” said Jacqueline quietly over the radio trying to keep her voice down.
“The interference has been getting worst, my motion sensors have been on the fritz,” commented Ava as she put her back to Jacqueline to scan the area behind them.
“Yeah, I have a rough idea where the team is, we should try to link up with them,” said Jacqueline, “Things are not going as expected.”
“They are about four clicks from us, if we double time it most of the way we should be able to make them in about ten minutes,” said Ava, “but we will be scarifying our stealth for that speed.”
“Yeah, but if they are already engage, stealth won't matter that much,” said Jacqueline, “especially if they are all dead.”
“Then let's get moving out,” said Ava as she jumped ahead of Jacqueline and ran towards that other team.

“Dr. Matthews, good to see you again,” greeted Commander Roy Hamm as he entered the observation room. The room was placed behind the subject's room and was divided by a two way mirror. In the room was Dr. Matthews who was surrounded by several other doctors and scientist, as well as a half a dozen technicians.
“Commander, likewise,” said Dr. Matthews who bore a Northampton accent, “Wish it was under better circumstance, like a new discovery of new squash or something.”
Commander Hamm looked at Lieutenant Commander Willmore who was beside him with a confused look and then turn his attention back to the slightly eccentric doctor, “How's he doing.”
“Physically he is good, better then good actually,” answered Dr. Matthews, “his mind on the other hand.”
“How is his mind,” asked Alan.
“Well he is dealing with a lot of guilt for his actions when he was infected by the Precursor. Not that they were really his own.”
“Who is this Precursor and how did he end up taking over one of our former teammates,” asked Commander Hamm.
“And then create a civil war and raised a galactic empire out of it,” added Lt. Commander Willmore.
“Well a lot of the scientist and doctors have answers to certain parts of the puzzle, but they can't really make sense of all of it,” said Dr. Matthews as he gestured the two Spartans to walk towards one of the darker, quieter corners of the room.
“But you going to tell me that you can,” asked Hamm knowing that the doctor enjoyed some mild theatrics.
“Yes, I have the clearances to access all the information,” said the doctor, “It's really quite fascinating, if not terrifying.”
“Well that's just the words I wanted to hear one of ONI's top scientist say,” said Willmore sarcastically.
“Many of these scientist don't have full access to Forerunner information like I do,” said Dr. Matthews trying to keep his voice down.
Lowering his voice too, Commander Hamm asked, “so we are dealing with Forerunner crap again?”
“Older then that,” said the Doctor, “the Precursors were the original holders of the Mantle of Responsibility before the Forerunners took it from them.”
“Took it from them,” said Alan.
“Yes, we don't have very good records, but it is assumed that the Precursors might have a grudge against the Forerunner for this,” said the Doctor.
“Is he cleared to meet us yet,” asked Roy, “We have a few questions to ask him.”
“Yes, Commander he will be released shortly, but it is okay for you to talk to him now,” said Doctor.
FORT DESTINY
Karakura, Installation 0 “The Greater Ark”
The three Pelicans approached the landing pad and spun around to position their loading bay doors towards Agent Lau who was waiting there to meet up with the newly commissioned Warrant Officer Liyet Tauri.
Lau heard the engines of the Pelican spool down and started their shut down sequence and then approached the center Pelican where he believed Liyet was in. The door opened to show Liyet standing at the entrance of the dropship's door wearing a UNSC uniform.
“How does it look Agent Lau,” said Liyet striking a pose in her new UNSC uniform as she had completed her training and earned her commission to become an official Officer in the UNSC.
“Not bad Warrant Officer,” said Lau loudly trying to congratulate Liyet over the sound of the Pelican's engines as they cooled down.
“And here I come wearing these fancy cloths and here you are dressed like you are going to the beach,” commented Liyet at Lau's attire, which was only wearing a black tank top with the new standard issued trousers, “Just get back from training?”
“No, technically we are on vacation,” said Lau, “But unfortunately we are still on standby. So this is what we are wearing now while here.”
“No real break for us is there,” said Liyet, “But this place is beautiful.”
“It really is, not a bad place to be stationed at right now,” commented Lau, “the beaches here are really beautiful.”
“Will have to pass on that,” responded Liyet, “Asari don't do well in the sun all day.”
“What's with the escorts,” asked Lau who was confused with the two other Pelicans, “Was only expecting one with you not bringing our armor.”
“Well, 'whats his name gave you' guys your new armor,” responded Liyet, “There is also a large transport that was behind us that should be carry all the armor options and some of the technicians to help set it up.”
“Nice,” responded Lau with one of his favorite acknowledgments, “Hamm should be happy with that.”
“By the way they sent an extra set of armor,” asked Liyet, “Are we getting an new teammate?”
“Kinda,” responded Lau.
